How to log an observation
A step-by-step guide to logging a character strength observation for a student.
Logging an observation is the core action in Middah Map. Each observation connects a student to a specific behavior you noticed, linked to one of the nine character strengths.
Steps:
- Click Log Observation in the sidebar.
- Select the student you observed. Students are grouped by grade — you can also search by name.
- Choose what you observed. Each character strength is listed as a card — tap it to expand and see a list of specific behaviors (called indicators). Select the one that best matches what you saw. You can also search across all behaviors, or choose Other… if nothing fits exactly.
- Write a brief note describing what you saw. A sentence or two is enough — specific details make the best observations.
- Click Submit observation.
After submitting, you'll see a confirmation and be taken back to the log screen to continue logging.
Tip:
- You can log multiple observations in one sitting — after each one you're returned to the start.
